The San Francisco Public Library presents a reading and public discussion with the writers from Black Fire: This Time, Volume 1, a powerful anthology that explores the history of the Black Arts Movement, featuring the work of over 100 poets and writers, the majority of whom are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the reading will feature playwright Judy Juanita, former San Francisco Poet Laureate devorah major, califia's daughter, poet Michael Warr, poet and activist Karla Brundage, storyteller Amber Butts, poet Landon Smith, publisher Tureeda Mikell, writer and educator Meilani Clay, and poet and musician Avotcja, moderated by Dr. Kim McMillon, producer, playwright, and editor of the anthology, in-person, Latino/Hispanic Meeting Room A, San Francisco Main Library, 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, free, 1:00-3:00 pm PST (More information here:
