The San Francisco Public Library celebrates the work of poet, artist, and community worker Joaquin Legaspi (1896-1975), with readings from a newly printed collection of his work, Manong Joaquin, featuring community organizer and psychologist Jovina Navarro, compiler of this collection; Juanita Tamayo Lott, author of Golden Children: Legacy of Ethnic Studies and A Memoir, a poem written to Legaspi; and Dr. Estella Habal, activist, scholar, and author of San Francisco's International Hotel: Mobilizing the Filipino American Community in the Anti-Eviction Movement; free, in person at the African American Center Exhibit Space, Third Floor, Main Library, 100 Larkin Street, San Francisco, 2:00-3:30 pm PST (For more information: sfpl.org/events/2022/02/19/celebration-book-release-manong-joaquin-collected-verse-joaquin-legaspi)
